A Special Branch officer has filed two separate defamation suits against a senior Bukit Aman director and a former diplomat for allegedly accusing him of making false claims. Azwan Jamaldin was accused of making several false claims amounting to RM63,704 for the maintenance and repair of vehicles belonging to the Malaysian police liaison officer (MPLO) in Pontianak, Indonesia. The suit, in which Bukit Aman management director Ramli Din and former Malaysian consul in Pontianak Mohiuddin Ghazali were named as defendants, was filed at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court last week. Azwan is seeking damages from the defendants. Azwan’s lawyer, M Manoharan, confirmed that he had filed the civil suit on behalf of his client at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court on May 23.
