Reasonable doubt raised at the close of the defence case. Our client was acquitted and discharged from the charge under section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act,195,2, which carries the death penalty. Learned High Court Judge DATO AZHAR BIN ABDUL HAMID ruled that our client and his witnesses had successfully raised a reasonable doubt in the prosecution’s case and therefore decided that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. Our client was set free today. He has been under remand in SG. Buloh Prison from the date of his arrest, since 3 December 2020.What a relief.
