A big victory today at Mahkamah Tinggi Jenayah 1 KLANG.
Our client RAGU A/L KRISHNAN escaped gallows and/or life imprisonment after Mr.Justice Dato Azmi bin Abdullah acquitted and discharged him on all 3 charges under S.39B and S.12(2) of the DANGEROUS DRUGS ACT,1952 and S.30(3) of the Poisons Act,1952. We successfully raised a reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case after defence was called by adducing evidence through the accused and 3 other witnesses namely a lawyer and a SPRM Investigation Officer and one independent witness “that our client was fixed up by the police from Balai Polis KLANG Selatan by planting the said drugs on to our client’s pouch. It was planted because our client had previously complained against 3 policemen of corruption, in which the 3 were arrested by the SPRM. The learned Judge accepted that the defence has raised a reasonable doubt and that the version of the accused is consistent from the beginning. What a great victory. Our client is now set free and will now finally get to be together with his wife and child of 3 years old, born while he was in prison. Finally released after spending 3 1/2 years in Sungai Buloh Prison as a remand prisoner pending this trial, which was fixed up by the police, is a big relief.
